"For the past three years Snéha has provided annual training
on equalities and anti-oppressive practice to all staff employed in Hertfordshire's
children's homes. This has met the requirements of the government's National
Minimum Requirements for Children's Homes. The training has always been
extremely well received by staff. In addition to focussing on legal requirements,
Snéha has been highly effective in addressing specific issues within
individual homes, and staff have found her courses highly relevant to
their day-to-day work. As a result, she has made a major contribution
towards raising care standards". Mel Wood - Learning and Development, Children Schools and Families
- Hertfordshire County Council
Snéha is currently involved in providing the Group with a designated
training session in relation to Equality and Race. The title of the event
" Working With Respect", is being provided to Board Members, staff and
tenant committees. Snéha's approach and personable style has been
a great asset, in presenting a challenging subject to a wide audience.
The feedback for Snéha's training has been extremely positive.
Snéha has also assisted the Group in reviewing its policies and
strategy in meeting the challenge to become a diverse employer." John Fletcher - Personnel and Training Manager - Longhurst Housing
Association
"I really enjoyed the springboard course and Snéha's friendly
training style and the way everyone's input was encouraged and acknowledged".
"Through the one to one mentoring with Snéha, I was able to look
at my personal situation objectively and make plans for my future development
and career plans. It helped that Snéha understood barriers that
I faced as an Asian woman and also as a person with care responsibilities.
She has a wealth of knowledge and experience that benefited me greatly."

of my young person feelings and his history and background. {Independent

2. This session took a broader view and also specifically applied the
learning to the IV relationship with the young person. {Independent

I had several sessions with Snéha during which I was able to
discuss race awareness and my own feelings and attitudes to other ethnic
groups. This enabled me to clarify my thoughts and feelings in a detached
and honest way which was refreshing and helpful. Snéha guided me
through this process with great skill and sensitivity. Anthony Fisher - Chairman, Fisher Research Ltd.

Snéha has trained mental health managers (one day course) in
race and culture and our front line staff in gathering ethnic data (three
hour course) - or ethnic monitoring - over a couple of years. She has
also undertaken a review of the PCT's policies in the light of the Race
Relations Amendment Act and was a trainer for practice staff and GPs for
a project in Watford in raising awareness in working with minority ethnic
patients. Penny Bennetts - St Albans and Harpenden PCT
Snéha has for many years provided Hertfordshire Adult Care services
with excellent training courses. Her particular strength is in helping
people improve their 'people skills', such as negotiating and working
with interpreters. She is not afraid to take on subjects people have strong
feelings about, such as sexuality and people with learning disabilities.
Her commitment to equality and diversity is demonstrated in many ways,
not least by her learner-centred approach. Participants consistently rate
her courses as both valuable and enjoyable! Susan Suleski - Manager Training Department - Adult Care Services
