Assertiveness is about communicating in clear, calm and effective manner as a means of establishing good and productive relationships, whether with a family member, a colleague at work or any other professionalThis one-day course will enable you to speak up for yourself, build your self-confidence and self esteem. You will learn tools and techniques on how to communicate effectively enabling you to confront challenges that have frightened you in the past.

The programme will include:

  • Recognising the difference between assertive, aggressive, passive and manipulative behaviour
  • How to put to practice assertive techniques - for instance - broken record and fogging
  • Developing your listening skills
  • Learning how to say 'yes' and 'no' for the right reason
  • Making and Refusing Requests
  • Dealing with negativity and criticism effectively
  • Understanding the Seven Rules of Assertive Communication
  • Roles people play within the Transactional Analysis Model

The session will be interactive and practical. The trainer will respond to areas for development with sensitivity and compassion.
