Snéha Khilay
Snéha is an Asian woman who has been providing training for statutory
and private organisations over the past ten years. Prior to this,
she was a social worker in a mental health team.
Her specialism in training and consultancy has evolved over time.
She has focused her consultancy work to support organisations to
deal with the statutory requirements, in particular the Race Relations
Amendment Act. Linking to this, her training remit is to raise awareness
of the importance of mainstreaming equality into every aspect of
organisational responsibility so that staff members at all levels
from Chief Executive, Board members to front line staff are conscientious
of their responsibility in maintaining the equality stance.
Philosophy
Snéha has incorporated the philosophy of 'respect and dignity'
into all of her training and consultancy work. She communicates
effectively, with the calibre of flair, enthusiasm and good interpersonal
skills. She has developed a high level of expertise to deliver appropriately
in the occasional challenging situations.
Training
Parallel to Equality and Diversity training, she also provides training
on Personal Development, Assertiveness Training, Women's Development
Programmes. She became a licensed Springboard Women's Development
Programme trainer in 2000.
Snéha provides training on Management Development Courses.
This includes; Post graduate certificate in Management, Organisational
development and change, Organisation Culture and Team Building.
One to One Coaching and Mentoring
On many occasions, she has participated in providing one to one
coaching and mentoring for Black and Asian staff members who wish
to explore professional and personal development. In addition to
this, she has supported managers in establishing boundaries in managing
a team effectively, especially if there are concerns around issues
of discrimination and bad practice within a team setting.
Research Thesis titled - Management of Sexual
Harassment - Fantasy or Reality?
Snéha did MSc. Management of Human Resources at Brunel University.
Her Dissertation Titled 'Management of Sexual Harassment, Reality
or Fantasy?' A research study to explore the effects on women who
had been sexually harassed at work. The analysis focused on the
long term professional and personal effects of the harassment. It
also included the impact of the management process in formally dealing
with the allegation of the harassment and whether the disciplinary
process could be managed differently.
Trained Investigator into allegations of harassment
and bullying
As a result of this dissertation and further training, she qualified
as a trained investigator. She now undertakes investigations for
organisations into allegations of racism, sexism, disabilisim or
any other form of harassment/bullying at work. Her approach of objectivity
and impartiality with commitment to the various cases that she has
investigated has meant that investigations have been completed within
a realistic time frame. The organisations have valued this input
as there are numerous benefits, costs have been reduced and the
complaints are resolved more effectively.
Ongoing Update
Snéha regularly attends workshops, conferences and relevant
training courses in order to update her skills and knowledge base.
She is currently doing the NLP Master Practitioner course.
Other Information
She has lived in Watford over the last fifteen years and has two
teenage sons. When she is not working, she spends her time driving
them to the various activities after school. She is currently learning
to play the saxophone, no easy feat, and hopes to play live to an
audience in the near future. Snéha is a volunteer radio presenter
on a local community radio programme. She is also a connoisseur
of all the coffee places in Watford and St Albans.
Associates
Snéha works with a group of selected associates who also
incorporate the same values and philosophy into the training and
consultancy aspect. This ensures consistency, momentum and quality.
